Tunshi Xingkong 4th Season

Tbh I have had no interest in watching any donghua's particularly because i'm very used to anime and the japanese language. But this, this donghua exceeded my expectations in almost all aspects. The storytelling, the progression, you name it everything is good. This is now my top 5 for anime like series. However, Im also very sad that there's no release of the OST from this series. If anyone has contact with the studio responsible for the OST's please contact me as I'm willing to even pay to have the entire OST album. The OST's are unlike any other and i love them. Otherwise this ... series is topnotch.

Edit:
Previously, I claimed this was the best donghua out there. Now, rewatching it with fresh eyes, I can confidently say it's not the best. It's definitely a top 5 3rd donghua of all time but that's the only top 5 it'll make it into.
This series is by no means bad, but it's not as good as people will tell you.

Animation:
The animation is good. For a 3d donghua, this is like the holy grail only surpassed by Renegade Immortal imo.
The fight scenes are where this donghua really shines. But the casual interactions between characters are so corny and NOT something that people would use irl.
The ... background characters are also genuine npcs. Copy and pastes of the same person yet they have voice lines which attract attention to them.

Characters:
The character are decent at best.
The MC, Luo Feng, is incredibly bland. He's a straight-laced young man who is ruthless to his enemies but compassionate to his friends and family. He's the typical cultivation protagonist. My main issue with him is how he has ZERO development as a character in the slightest. At over 1000 years old, he's pretty much the exact same as he was at 16.
The best character is by far, Hong. His backstory is interesting plus he's got the demeanor and vibe of a genuinely cool guy. He'd easily make a better protagonist.

Story:
It's just a typical, average or even below average cultivation story. The thing that sets it apart from other cultivation stories is that it's a sci-fi based cultivation universe with robots, iron man suits and ships straight outta star wars.
There's no real stakes either. It may seem like stuff is going down at some points but over time you realize nothing is gonna happen because every single catastrophic occurance is solved at the last second and mc also finds a way to worm his way outta things.

Complaints:
The donghua used to have higher stakes, but the stakes have been completely thrown out the window and so has the story. At present it's just a rush to break through to higher realms as fast as possible and forsake all the world building.
The donghua has also changed a lot of stuff from the novel making the mc far less ruthless. The closest we got to seeing how Luo feng should be is in the Blood Luo Continent movie (which already causes lots of plot holes in the original story because of bad pacing). Seeing him in the movie and then going right back to his usual soft self right after is so weird.

I'm especially annoyed at the way they changed the way Luo Feng handles things with his descendants.

Anyway, overall it's still a decent donghua that would've been a top 3 if it stuck closer to the source material.

A good script destroyed by bad screenplay and direction to improve the drama and visuals.
This show has more unnecessary drama than science fiction or fantasy or cultivation.

The show takes place in a fantasy future of earth where humans are powered and animals are monsters and advanced mecha tools are used to protect human civilization.

Animation - 8/10
This is what the hype of the show is about. Fights and overall visuals are great.

Screenplay - 5/10
This is the weakest part. The show keeps suffering from plot holes, plot nerfs, plot armor as needed to drag the fight or end the fight.
The basic concept which starts the sci-fi fantasy ... show is flawed and inconsistent in the show.
The power leveling is inconsistent. The rules, politics literally change on whim of director to drag some arcs or end some quicker.
Monsters are inconsistent.
The people become dumb or smart as per plot convenience.
They keep dumbing the script or create plot holes or break their own world logic or sequence of events as long as it creates more drama.
The dramatization level is so high that they managed to make a super genius AGI look dumb.
They recycle even the mega monsters and nerf buff them as needed.

Characters - 5/10
Most of the characters are single dimensional tropes and inconsistent including the MC. There is no character growth in any characters.
The MC is nerfed as needed and becomes brain dead as per plot demand to increase tension and drama.

Direction - 3/10
This show has a source web-novel and manhua.
All major disappointment situations can be compared to them and you will find the director botched it up for fake cinematic tension and visual experience.
To increase the drama and prolong the show, the amount of fillers and fake stupidity/nerfs/circumstance changes added is unbelievable.
Every fight becomes a boss fight.
I doubt the MC can even beat a child in arm wrestling without intense dramatic music and slow mo reactions.
Cultivation doesn't work like that. A higher tier material or weapon can defeat a lower tier one.

It never got better.
Please don't watch this if you want an intelligent, sensible or strong MC.
If you want melodrama and fake high stakes, you are at right place.
If you want braindead writing with amazing visuals, you are at right place.
