Kivia looked down on Heros and became a hero herself now lol. I think she deserved it though. I know she didn't knew the corrupt elites etc. but still because of how annoying she was throughout the story, she deserves it. Looking forward to kivia's interactions after becoming a hero with Xylo.
@Abdur-Rauf It seems you didn't understand a damn thing. Kivia despised the Doomed Heroes because she believed they were dangerous and irredeemable monsters.

Kivia's moment of choosing between an eternity of servitude and getting framed and executed was intense. Being handed a sword to do it herself was even better.

The scene between Kivia and her uncle was striking, but it didn't feel like it was built up very much. They should've spent more time with the uncle and made him a real, deeper character in previous episodes. The directorial flourishes were cool but felt way too over-the-top for what the moment warranted.

Overall, it was nice to stare at the action scenes, but an unsatisfying watch.

The animation was just mesmerizing. I can't imagine the blood and sweat they poured into this. The music was exciting, too.

Everything else was either just passable or lacking. The story and the world felt flimsy, even though they were putting in some detail and drama. A lot came across as edgy. The characters were also paper-thin and obvious, in addition to being largely unlikable. The side characters and the villains were completely forgettable, with the exception of maybe His Majesty. The fights looked flashy but was uninteresting in design and choreography. The art style was also uninteresting, and the demon designs were flat-out ugly. The explosions were pretty, though.

I'll probably still come back for Season 2 for more sakuga action and for Kivia's new life as a hero...

Great animation and the last few scenes were great but the writing still leaves me unsatisfied. The route she took felt just a tad predictable I feel, finding out some huge revelation then informing no one after spending a season with someone branded a goddess killer when clearly there was more that went on. Just feels like she should have handled this much smarter. Reminds me of GoT season 1's ending but less compelling. I do think it's a fitting end to the season, just also very jarring and highlights a lot of issues I have with the story.

I think my biggest issue with the series is the dialogue and characters. The dialogue just feels like it could be better, especially in regards to the less important members of the heroes who fall flat for me (the dragoon especially). I like Xylo and Kivia well enough but the missions they go on don't really interest me that much. The fights themselves look spectacular but are also somewhat dull in terms of how the combat goes down. Like, the tentacle/mummy wraps lady didn't really amount to much and her downfall was rather underwhelming and I also wasn't very wowed by the battle against Boohum (who somehow swapped out with a clone or something for the sake of keeping him as a villain later).

Venetim wasn't very compelling or funny to me which makes watching him rather frustrating. He makes calls that end up helping his group a lot and he's very smart but just all around I don't like his mannerisms or manner of speaking and find him rather generic (silver-tongued and brilliant but sometimes feels like we're told rather than shown at least as far as his moments convincing his superiors go). His backstory was good (but a lot of the heroes have good backstories).

I didn't quite get why Xylo was cautious of the little girl yet let Teoritta approach her. I also didn't realize her reactions were so good she could block Spriggan (who was surprisingly weak but I guess they were just the planner at the center, not immensely powerful on their own). It felt like a rather dangerous situation that could have been prevented so the demands for head-pats and him being proud felt strange. I suppose it doesn't matter since she protected herself.

Some of the deductions Kivia did were smart but I couldn't help but feel it would have been better to see her peacing together the clues instead of her revealing stuff like her uncle's alias from her childhood. Also, why not try harder to inform higher-ups before confronting him and expecting it to go without a fight? I guess it's necessary for the story to progress but felt rather stupid.

Rhyno was fine but it was weird he was only brought in late in the series followed by this reveal. I mean, I didn't care that much for him yet so finding out he's a demon was cool but not that shocking or gamechanging. It does show how far parts of the government are willing to go with the hero system.

I enjoyed the series overall but I couldn't but feel as though even at its best, it could have been much better and more compelling. I hope it improves next season but I somewhat doubt it. For a new dark fantasy anime with great animation perhaps I'm asking too much but I wish the characters were more engaging, that the plot felt more interesting and that the dialogue was better.

How ironic that Kivia becomes a hero too. An extremely solid first season. Excited for the second!

Excellent animation.
But the writing really started weak, cliche and annoying.

Then you got a glimpse of greatness in the mines, and past the halfway point, this show turns into something fantastic.
The more background story you get, the more compelling the setting gets, and towards the end, you get some damn exciting reveals & developments.

Started weak, which is kind of a shame, considering the fantastic animation, but sticking with it, I feel like I was rewarded big time, really looking forward to S2.

Why did no one look for Kivia?? Looks like she was there for a while, talk about comrades.
Also Xylo's Fiance knew about the Uncles past, but seems she left her to rot.

I thought the last episode would be one long-ass battle, but instead, it revealed some really important information, which is exactly what we had been waiting for.

Poor Kivia. I respect her even more now for her resolve to become the hero she always wanted to be. I’m sure some of the people close to her won’t accept what she did, but at least the Hero Unit will understand her and accept her for who she is.

How does Kivia not know what a Penal Hero is, and also i dont understand how is she one of the coexisters, is it because she k*lled her Uncle who was unsuspected by the public, which in turn made her the one siding with the demon blights or is it because of the her relation with her Uncle(who was a coexister)?
