More mysteries but at least Licht got some answers that he was seeking for.

Oh, and glad this anime hasn't forgotten about Shou. He's an underrated character imo and was seeking answers himself around town.

“Just what is Shinra Kusakabe? A hero.” Cannot get over how much David production are cooking here. An episode with no action, just Sho trying to learn the truth about his family and seeing his mother’s memories and it ends up being the best episode in a long time. Whether it’s action or these character driven episodes, D pro are constantly able to make this show look and feel great.

Christian symbolism? Nah, Shinra is literally Jesus reborn, confirmed lol. Even down to Mari(Mary) being a teenager when she gave birth to him. Except this time she had no Joseph to support her and had to handle everything on her own. It really broke my heart seeing how cruel her own family were to her. You have a teenaged daughter who’s going thru this extremely difficult situation and instead of trying to comfort her, you just blame and put her down. You can literally read the results of the tests and confirm she’s a virgin, so why attack her? Fuck them. That scene where the mom said the baby would only bring her misfortune made me so angry.

Mari was such a strong and beautiful person, I can’t imagine how it had to feel being the mom of two kids you didn’t ask for, and instead of being upset or angry, she showed them nothing but love and kindness. She deserved a happy ending, not to be turned into an infernal 🥺

On the bright side, Sho knows the full story now and he’ll be able to help Shinra. I like how even before that Adolla link, we saw Sho being more playful and open with Arrow. Playing a prank on her and just being much more chill than we are accustomed to seeing him! You can really see Mari in both Shinra and Sho, she’d be so proud of them.

Great episode

That comical moon lol. Its like the doppels take the base traits of the ones they copied and twist their base motivations up to 11. Their deduction though sure were grim. Thats quite the disguise that Sho and arrow chose. The insight into the past though was curious. At the very least Sho and Arrow are on the same page as Shinra and team.

Well, I can tell you I wasn't expecting Shinra and Shou's births to resemble Jesus Christ, but here we are.

I have to start by saying this episode did feel fast paced, I feel like the lore dump was quite important to be this quickly resolved. For once, I was expecting to see more of Shou and Arrow's interactions, considering they seem to make a wholesome duo, but the anime didn't really focus on that.

Then, the big thing about the episode is the revelation is that Shinra is supposed to be the Hero the people from before the cataclysm imagined to save them, this happens because this world is supposed to be a world made after people's imagination, after the "first" world was destroyed by the cataclysm. This explains why Shinra saw people from the past as "real" people, while it seems the characters see themselved as animated characters, quite literally. And it seems people from the "first" world had this legend of a hero that would be born by a virgin birth, which in everything resembles the foundation of Christianism, the birth of Jesus Christ. The anime always had this strong foundation in religion with the Holy Sol Temple, but I still wasn't expecting this. It's interesting they even went into the detail of making Shinra and Shou's mother a teen when she had Shinra, just like Mary was still a teen when she had Jesus (according to the legends).
Not really sure what legend Shou is inspired from though, considering he's also from a virgin birth, but it seems his role is to make sure Shinra fulfills his role, and for that he'll need to take care of those that want to deny Shinra's existence (the White Clad in this case).

Now, I have to say that this whole thing about Shinra and Shou not having a father feels like it should have been mentioned before, and it's weird how the development of this part of the story didn't start with Shinra, that apparentaly never thought much of not having a father.
So this lore dump comes all together, when it would have been more digestable if they just started hinting at this early.

Also, the fact that Shinra is both a Pillar to start the cataclysm and the one that can stop it is a bit confusing. Are the other Pillars also the result of the imagination "coming to life" from the people of the "first" world?

The idea that the cataclysm ends up in the death of everyone, due to turning into reality the combination of the imagination of all people, was not really well explained in the anime in my opinion. I would just say the world would end due to the chaos that comes from it, but the anime had another idea, but it never developed it, which is a shame.

Anyways, you can really tell the anime is coming to an end, considering how the plot seems to be going to it's finale, and bigger revelations are being made about the setting of the story. I'm really curious for next week's episode! Also, the opening is so good, that I feel the need to remind everyone of that weekly.

Edit: I found this family picture really cute, and ends up "spoiling" what Shinra and Shou are: a Hero and an Angel.

It kinda was, since the very beginning: "In this world the most feared form of death is by fire".
If the Cataclism is an actualization of public imaginary, like the waves turning into that Kanagawa painting, then shaping the peoples imaginary to think this is a world of death by fire (using the bugs) or that their salvation will also come by fire (Sol church) is a way to achieve that result.

Now why would the mastermind want a fiery hellscape of a world is a good question

So the episodes are heavily focused on one or two specific character each? There are a few characters that come to mind that haven't appeared at all this season so far, with the exception of the intro and ending. This feels very, idk, "as minimal as possible?". Might have rushed this season too quickly in terms of adaptation.

I absolutely loved it! I love this story so much that I will always rank Fire Force number one among new generation shounen manga. The way the stories are embellished with such motifs deeply affects me and captures my interest. I see straightforward fighting in Jujutsu Kaisen, but when it comes to this, my horizons are broadened.

That’s interesting.

Adolla and reality are mixing into one, and then everyone will die.

But what’s more interesting is Sho and Shinra’s births. Their mother, Mira Kusakabe (or Kusak since her parents disowned her) had two virgin births. Speaking of, why didn’t her parents believe her when the hospital ran CONCLUSIVE TESTS that prove that she is telling the truth? Did they think the doctors were also lying?

I don’t recall from the first season, but I think that Sho is five years younger than Shinra, meaning that he’s twelve (which means he was born the same year the fire to the Kusakabe house occurred).

Shinra’s birth was a result of the subconscious thoughts people had of the first virgin mother who birthed a hero before the first Great Cataclysm, so now it’s up to Shinra to be the hero, while Sho is the angel, meaning that Shinra and Sho will fight as a team.

I also forgot that Sho can stop time or whatever.

Let’s see how they goes down.

yeah but the skipped content is max 1 chapter long. i checked it after every episode. all of them were kind of meaningless scenes and anime is doing it better (unnecessary people had unnecessary actions like this girl, it was meant to show that infernals are able to talk but they just shortened it and imo anime did this better) and this is should be only part was removed

Jesus Shinra Christ. I did not see that coming. Literal immaculate conception. I wonder what other mysteries we'll have before the end.

I love Arrow's character design. She's such a fine looking lady.

I think they could have edited the episode to flow better. It's been a while since I finished the manga, so I don't mind the refresher. I just want the Dragon fight to be done justice. The fight to me was peak Bleach, OPM level art and everyone deserves a fantastic shonen fight.

They used to do OVAs and extra episodes to finish the story, like Kekkai Season1 did. Technically David Pro's Undead Unluck did something similar not that long ago. Perhaps they will give Fire Force the same treatment.

Great ep

My boy Sho fly and Arrow fine asl as always.

Really love this arc mainly bc we get to see Sho act like a normal child for once.

The Kusakabe History Arc was beautifully done and quite interesting that Mari and Shinra make such strong connections to the Bible with Mary and Jesus thru a virgin birth, but with different changes to the story. Similar to the Bible, Jesus is called the savior of mankind and Shinra is in the same boat. Even for Sho, he was born on Christmas.

The mother was so damn fake, like I don't think she even tried to listen to her daughter anyways. Perhaps she never liked her in general. But, Mari is such a great mother for doing it alone, especially with the circumstances that they were in.

Sho has finally grown his wings, huh.

This ep adapted ch 230-233.

I love Fire Force and I read the manga a year ago and even now, I feel the same as I felt then when I came across this revelation about the Kusakabe Family; very unsettling for me. I mean, I am a Christian so I found that part very controversial, and I mean VERY but I got over it asap then and now so that's that.

as expected, it was a good episode with some interesting lore and sharp explanation on how Adolla works. W.

The story of Fire Force really has come such a long way, I remember back when Season 1 first dropped when it was just literal “fire” fighters putting people to rest after they combust, and now Shinra is Jesus Christ Superstar lol, but honestly man, I love it, I don’t think I could have ever imagined this being where the story goes back then, it’s been such a ride. But yeah, absolutely wild reveal, to think Shinra constantly calling himself a hero would become relevant like this, and I think it’s so damn interesting that this is because of the belief in Jesus by the people before the first cataclysm, and that it ended up causing Shinra and Sho’s mom, Mari (oh wow, I just realized as I typed that, her name is intentional, like Mary from the Bible stories, man I’m slow lol), having a virgin birth of her own, I can see this being controversial but I’m not religious personally, and I find this very cool.

And after seeing that flashback of Mari, it makes me sad all over again regarding what happened to her, she was a fun and loving person despite her terrible situation (her mom is the real devil, let’s be real lol), but I’m glad she was able to be a loving mother to Shinra and, for a much shorter time, Sho before she became her doppelgänger self (assuming that’s what she is). And speaking of Sho, I liked seeing him and Arrow in casual clothing as they looked for clues, Sho caught some attention but Arrow is catching mine lol, I’ve always thought she was really pretty, this way we can see her without the cultist cloak in the way, it was a very nice look for her.

And lastly, with the appearance of the Soul Eater moon to everyone, the true results of the cataclysm were revealed, being that people’s images of things will be fused with the real world, leading to a fiery death, because that’s what the people of this world imagine for humanity, so it’s pretty much what we thought would happen already, just the cause is different, really cool to know tho, now let’s hope it can still be stopped somehow.

@Grzana02 Unless they really don't like seeing depictions of Jesus that aren't devotional in nature. And this is...not really like what you'd see in Renaissance art or the like. Then again, even Japan seems to want to sidestep around the Black King in Drifters, which Hirano Kouta has all but confirmed is Jesus.

I'd have to look, but Jesus as a villain or antagonistic force seems like most publishers are not going to put that out there because it's kind of commercial suicide, there's going to be such a stink made about it and it will never leave. D&D survived because people realized that tabletop games are not a gateway to fringe occult rituals and rampant antisocial behavior, that happens regardless with people in a bad way

@Farukelazim thank you for this response. People really be trying to say they are skipping stuff like the stuff they left out means anything. Do I wish they could have added it all? Sure. But if in order to get the episode we got last week we need to cut stuff like this I don't care at all. This is very much if you want more lore read the manga content. Also, excluding this chapter they adapted 85% of the remaining 8. The rest of the show has to adapted 6-7 per episode which is very doable as shown in episode 14.

Shinra being the 2nd coming of Jesus is crazy.

Mari has to be a to #5 anime mother, damn, loved her.
I don't like her name tho, like, are we really going to call her Mari? That's so damn generic, specially because of what she is representing.
