Spoiler alert!
This story tells of Yomai, a Western-style witch sent to Taisho-era Japan. From initial fear and rejection, to her first encounter with the righteous and beautiful friend Rin, and then, with people's help and her own effort, overcoming many difficult things, she finally is able to confidently strides towards tomorrow. Yes, a happy ending. The protagonist's emotional journey and the series of "crises" weave together the main storyline.
While somewhat typical, the main characters are well-developed. There's the protagonist, sensitive and emotional yet courageous; Rin, kind-hearted and principled (and cool); and the seemingly aloof but warm-hearted teacher, kakefuji-san.
Most importantly, the character illustrations are beautiful and

adorable! Yomai's expressions when praised or touched by Rin are absolutely fantastic. Besides the adorable character designs, the psychological portrayals of the characters are also incredibly vivid. From the choice of words and facial expressions to the decorative elements in the artwork, everything perfectly conveys the characters' emotions—whether excitement, emotion, or (or emo)—at the time.
The mutual encouragement and support between Yomai and Lin is also very heartwarming; it's quite touching.
