Both show are about two friends exploring the nature of their relationship together with relation to an art form that they both practice. Rakugo Shinjuu is about Shin and Bon who studied Rakugo (a traditional japanese story telling/spoken word) and growing up together; Liz and the Blue bird is about two high school girls in modern Japan who played in the band together through out middle and high school.
