Lately, I've been feeling like these kinds of manga are changing a bit. They still aim at the same audience, but the tone feels a little more grown-up. Maybe it's just me, but this one didn't come off as super childish, and I liked that.

Like people often say, the art is really solid. The characters look great, and the scenes are nicely put together. It's just fun to look at while reading.

Honestly, it's just a nice read. There's a good mix of lighthearted moments and cute stuff, but it also has some depth. It's not just fluff. I don't think you'll get bored, I definitely ...

First off, yes, I was also mad at the author's (huge-)mistake. But for the right reasons- NOT for crying "NTRBAIT!!". It was established just one chapter beforehand that Tsumiki disliked the person. It was shown and established across panels in 4k UHD. Letting him do what he did just one chapter later and depicting it in that weird way fully betrayed what was built up and upon the two first chapters. That is why I personally was mad. It was terrible writing, a whole different genre and made the future look worse than grim.

But one has to stay open-minded and fair. What happened was poor ... writing and the abuse of a main character as a tool to do something unnecessary. It should be unforgiveable on paper but the author did the right thing; pretend it never happened and do it right. And they did.

The manga is great for now and I can recommend it for what it is, even if it is different than the first two grandiose chapters. The cast is mostly enjoyable. Peeps get introduced in fun ways and the MC's get involved in a satisfying way that also makes sense. Characters do seem to be a bit superficial at times and for now they seem to be one and done- they have impact for one or two chapters and fall into this deep pit of obscurity.. which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

The story is.. well.. there is no story at this point. The first two chapters hinted at one and some great world building but all of that is on hold for now. The world is stagnant and not really deep and the whole genjin shtick is pretty much only used to force the before mentioned encounters. There is always hope, tho.

The 6 rating is more than deserved IMO. There is some not so small issues that keep this manga from being great and I personally think most stem from the author going babysteps due to being afraid of another mistake. Playing it safe is the smart way but I hope, after further improving, that the author will once again go for some grand writing like the first two chapters.

Small update as of chapter 19: The writing is pretty inconsistent. There is minor mistakes in pretty much every chapter. These are mostly "plot holes" and inconsistent characters/world building. It is nothing major but noticeable- worst offender was chapter 18, it almost reached chapter 3 levels of writing but was quickly solved (the whole chapter made no sense after 16+17 and was hugely unnecessary). Other than that, the rating didn't change. There still is no story in sight. Characters still come up for 1-2 chapters and are then shelved. Everything is pretty much the same. It is still enjoyable, maybe even a bit more than before.

Tsumiki Ogami & The Strange Everyday Life is a romcom manga which presents us with the typical trope of a bland male protagonist meating a quirky girl, and how their relationship develops through everyday life.

Yutaka, the main protagonist is a boy who just entered highschool and finds himself lost in his own feelings, as he's been living just to fit in through the entirety of middle school, and so he chose to enroll into a high school full of Genjins or Mythfolk, which are as the name entails, mythical creatures that nowadays walk and live along humans, although they're kind of rare.
The other protagonist ... is Tsumiki, a werewolf girl who is direct, easy-going and frank with her feelings.
After the two hit it off nicely, Tsumiki promises to help Yutaka find his own feelings (what he likes, what is precious to him etc.)

The art is fantastic, it's not like it's deserving of a museum but it works really well for this story, it's cute and well done. Nothing to add in this department since it's just quite good.

Overall, I think it's a really cute read. It reminded me a lot of Komi-san with the side characters that have very straight to the point personalities and gimmicks, but well developed conflicts, and with the dynamic duo of one MC helping the other.
While it's full of typical romance tropes (nothing burger boy meets quirky girl, the girl is really popular -although this isn't a main stay of the genre it's quite typical- and the boy is kind of a loser but through sheer kindness and genuinenity he wins her over, there's a flirty side character who wins over girls but that doesn't affect the heroine, there's a flirty girl that falls in love with the MC despite him being really boring just because he didn't fall in love at first sight like every other NPC) and the structure overall is really typical, the conflicts and good writing are enough to make it really enjoyable. It's not boring at all at first, and the side characters while simple can be really endearing at times (Senga and Mirei really won me over).

Sometimes the cute moments and misunderstandings get a little on the nose, but it's usually well done. My favorite thing about this manga is how beautiful the emotional moments are, and how genuine the characters feel. It's really cute.
Also I enjoy that most of the misunderstandings don't get you thinking ''well that's just stupid'', the characters are mostly pretty emotionally and socially inteligent, Tsumiki herself surprised me in this department. That kind of changes with the succubus character, I felt like they kind of dumbed down Yutaka for that but the rest of the time they feel real.
Also, to the people that say that Yutaka should be removed, I disagree, he adds to the experience of meeting the Mythfolk and his conflict is well done enough. In most anime romcoms it's usually the bland MC helping the girl out, but I aprecciate it being the other way around this time, he feels like a good character even though he falls into the boring loser archetype kind of. Tsumiki is also kind of a ''everything always goes well for me'' character, but because of her role in the story, mature personality, own feelings and position in life, it feels correct. I really aprecciated her personality, she feels like a very direct girl but nothing too moe to make it feel super unrealistic.

So yeah, kind of a typical romcom so don't come in here expecting to find something crazy, it's just a cute slice of life with well written characters, not interesting enough to give it a 10 but it has sauce to be enjoyable. 7/10 for me.

The designs are rather cute, the writing isnt fantastic, but its more than doable

but mostly i think that the designs alone are interesting, what parts to and not to incorporate into the genjin, which ends up mostly human (sadly) but its still done rather well, the longer the MC's dont get together, the more i get to see of the sidecharacters which all are pretty good

oh and main girl is peak, she sports

Overall its worth reading,, art is 9/10, writing is 6.5/10, side character writing imo is actually a 7.5/10 thus my final result of an 8.

Came here from the MAL Challenge, it's an okay series I'm not sure why it's so hyped up? All you get is a regular dude who goes to a School of non-humans. That's it? The interactions are just regular or normal as it gets. Perhaps the appeal is in the simplicity of things, the MC is just a guy who is still developing while hanging out with a non-human girl. She's still learning about human stuff, and in turn her confidence completes him? Plus the nice aspect here is knowing the accuracies of non-human entites are kept without any exaggerations

Let me tell, when this series wants to hit you with romance, IT WILL HIT YOU WITH IT. There are SO many chapters that genuinely make me squeal with joy at how cute these two are. The romance aspect of this series is SO good.

That being said, sometimes we go like 30 chapters on some side arc that follows some side characters or follows our main guys but with no romantic development whatsoever. It really sucks cus the romance of this series is amazing, but it gets diluted so much by random ...

The main gimmick of Tsumiki Ogami's Not-So-Ordinary Life is the mythfolk, which mixes well with already great foundation Tsumiki has. The premise is deceptively simple as unique and dynamic ways for the characters to understand each other are created.

Many jokes and romantic situations are also made available just from a character being a myhtfolk, despite Tsumiki not technically being a rom-com, the consistent humour keeps the tone lighthearted and fun, and the fluff of the manga is kept fresh as it is well paced between parts depicting the lives of different types of mythfolk. For me this prevented the 'Love Status Quo' theme from ... becoming frustrating, as both the world, other characters, and the main relationship are steadily developed.

The fantasy aspect of the manga helps the wide supporting cast stand out even more in such an oversatured genre, helping the world feel alive with such variety. However, some readers may find the cast too large and development spread thin, as while a fair amount are developed steadily or in an arc, some remain as mostly static with occasional moments to shine.

For the main characters, Yutaka's journey of self-confidence is enabled by his contrast to Tsumiki and their growing relationship. Meaning that his normalcy keeps the premise grounded and accessible, while showcasing some of Tsumiki's flaws in understanding humans and his own flaws in understanding mythfolk. That said, I find Yutaka a bit lacking in depth, as he appears to serve as a relatable audience stand-in, while I would still argue he is given satisfying development, his character can be a bit tiring, and could benefit from a few quirks or traits.

The other aspect of Tsumiki that I found dragged it down is the familiar school setting, while a school-life with mixed amounts of human and mythfolk is explored in an interesting way through the story, it does get a bit stale when there are so many chapters featuring the same classroom. Both the story and the art could explore the world more, while still having a school theme to keep the manga familiar.

That said, the art is simply amazing. Almost every character has a unique design, only somewhat dragged down by a shared uniform. This is especially true for mythfolk characters, who can have any manner of accessories, hairstyles, or eccentricities which typically fit their character. Character emotion and tone are always expressive through the comedic and exaggerated style. The backgrounds that match these characters are well detailed, sometimes abstract, but almost always vibrant.

I found the ways that love is expressed in Tsumiki Ogami's Not-So-Ordinary Life both heartwarming and subversive, and believe that both fantasy and romance fans, or those who enjoy school themes can enjoy this manga whether or not it is their preferred medium. I intend to follow serialisation until completion, while hoping for an anime adaptation.

"Ogami Tsumiki to Ki Nichijou." is a fairly new manga that immediately reminded me of "Interviews with Monster Girls", one of my favorite anime of all time. So I read it straight away...

"Ogami Tsumiki To Kinichijou." is about a boy who overthinks everything far too much. "How might other people react if I dare to put my arm on the table?" and similar thoughts plague him every day. So he decides to visit a school that is known for teaching a lot of "genjin" - i.e. non-humans such as arachnids, medusae or werewolves - because they must surely have an even harder time than he ... does! Here he meets the werewolf Tsumiki Ogami, who is far too unconcerned about how others might react. When he reveals to her what his problem is, she promises to "reveal his feelings together".

You can already tell that this is a romance story. Yet the manga provides three reasons why someone might read it.
First of all, it provides a big bunch of waifus. There is only one "Genjin", who is given greater treatment and is male. On top of that, all of these non-humans are very humanoid and if you want to see pretty, female monster anime or manga characters, you've come to the right place. Let's ignore the fact that they still go to school for a moment - I should say straight away that there's no ecchie or anything, but it still feels weird to read this manga because of the pretty schoolgirls.

Fortunately, I don't have to feel that way, because it honestly even bothered me that almost all of the monsters discussed are female. I started the manga for the second reason: The scenario is interesting in general. How could monsters live in our society, what do they eat, how do they suppress their powers, what laws would have to be introduced, how do they use their abilities - all interesting questions that come up sometimes more and sometimes less in this manga. In my opinion, unfortunately not often enough, which is why I only gave it six stars.
But there's a third reason: the romance story! I'm generally not a fan of romance and unfortunately the series doesn't offer much in this regard. After 30 chapters, both protagonists seem to slowly realize their feelings, but so far it's one of those generic "huhu why does it feel so weird to get so close to this girl" romance stories. Personally, I'm not a fan of such romance manga, however, "Ogami Tsumiki To Kinichijou." beautifully incorporates the quirks of werewolves into the rather dull romantic scenes. From licking as a greeting to plasters despite ultra-regeneration, everything is included here, which enhances the scenes a little.

Other than that, everything here is very generic, I only found the manga acceptable because I'm so fascinated by this "what if creature X really existed".

cute manga

It doesn't have to be complex to be good and enjoyable to read.

This manga has adorable characters, an easy to understand plot and a very charming relationship between the main characters.

The main idea that normal, ordinary humans live in a school with kids with powers and facets of animals and they have to live together and do a very normal day to day, overcoming all the vicissitudes that may occur along the way, seems like something to me. interesting to read.

A very beautiful slice of life that catches you from chapter one because of how cute and fun the interactions are.

8 chapters in and its bang average. While the art is fantastic, its a fairly generic comedy romance manga that doesn't really appeal on any one front.

Particularly its protagonist. I'm not exactly sure what the point of even having his POV is. His motivations to better himself with the help of Tsumiki is clear, but he's relegated to the side so often, that I really doubt this could even be considered a shounen.
