That was. An amazing read, I loved it
The use of cannibalism as a metaphor for their unconventional love as well as the parallel drawn with the characters' internalized homophobia really hit me.
Society views it as immoral—as something unnatural—and the author really takes that concept to the next level.
It’s disgusting, repulsive, yet it’s the only way for them to be truly "special" to one another. After all, they spent their lives trying to conform to societal norms, suppressing their feelings and, to some extent, giving up on each other. Dying together in such a grotesque, immoral way makes their story so... meaningful. It’s hard to put into words, but I find it incredibly beautiful. It’s as if they’re finally owning who they are in the face of society—Some sort of "fuck off", in a way.
I like the idea that love can be just as foul as it is sweet
I’d often seen cannibalism used as a metaphor for love, and, to be honest, I never truly understood why, but—wow. It hits so much harder when it’s a metaphor for queer love.
It’s a brilliant tragedy. I really loved this manga.
