Synopsis

Due to a declining birth rate, pets are being transformed into humanoid members of society. But are they truly human? Or are humans truly animals?

When misanthrope Ao discovers her family dog, pit bull Taika, standing over the mauled body of her father, she must decide whether to forgive or forget. Ao isn't ready to lose both her beloved father and her devoted pet, so when her mother has Taika humanized, Ao embraces the new dogman and even brings him to school with her. There, Taika meets a German shepherd, an elite police dogman, and begins to unlearn canine behaviors and replace them with human customs. Now, the two dogmen compete to see who will be the first to track down the source of the mysterious traces of blood in Ao's locker...

This is my first review of anything, and I decided to start it with this story because I think it is one that is worth it, or at least for now.

The story has a lot of potential, the art is nice to look at and the premise is interesting, although the story is just beginning, I think its characters are the weakest so far, although they are not unpleasant, and they can improve in the future.

I think it is a story that people can both like and dislike, but I recommend it at least out of curiosity.

It's not that bad as some people may critique this one. but it is weird for sure.

I was invested in the mystery and the dynamic between the dogman characters, as how they view the world and eachother.
But man, when it comes about Taika and Ao relationship... even if the author shot down the zoophile stuff, it's still weird the way its done. Same with a certain scene between Tsuna and Tatsunari, like... okay? i understand a bit because "feral/animal instincts" but... ergh, wish it wasn't brushed off easily and for the characters to put boundaries.

Please, Itagaki, just make the furry co protagonists be gay, ...

"I will lose everybody in the world that I loved all in one night?!", she says as her dog which killed her dad, stares at her with the same eyes of a rapist as her father.

I enjoy my fair share of morally questionable art.
I believe it's not the author's job to educate the readers on morality, nor to openly criticize the actions taken by the characters he brings to life. There's nothing wrong with having your characters be toxic, or disgusting, or downright demonic and not denouncing their actions. In the end, all that matters is the artistic expression and emotional punch the work ...
