The "I want to love this, but I can't" Fate.
It can almost be considered a waste of potential. The series tends to fall into the category of those works that seem to possess nearly everything one could want to love. The concept of the Moon Cell is dope, alongside the servant lore presented in the film and several elements that appear to differentiate it from the Stay Night series, but it remains difficult to fully embrace, largely due to what seems to be poor execution. with this entry possibly being viewed as one of Type-Moon's more interesting experiments. Even so, the overall result is not something that can be fully accepted. Extra's storyline, in particular, appears to be one of the weaker aspects. It often comes across as too jumbled, overly contrasting, and largely scattered throughout. It is not necessarily being suggested that a complex story is inherently bad; however, when complexity is taken too far, the result is generally not favourable either. A noticeable number of plot holes can be identified, alongside what may be regarded as an excessive amount of fan service for a series of this nature.
It is genuinely unfortunate that, as the character of Nero is appreciated, the way Shinji is handled is also noted, and the concept surrounding the Umbral Star tends to be intriguing in its own right, but all of it appears to have been poorly executed.
