Man, how does Studio Trigger keep making me like giant robot stuff? Seriously, I would have never even looked at this show twice if I hadn't randomly seen a comment on reddit saying it had dope kaiju. It was about what I expected for the first parts of the show, slow and mildly interesting. The fights and kaiju were indeed interesting and seemed to be referential to other works. Around episode 5 or 6 there is a pretty jarring episode that is largely fan service which almost threw me off entirely. Luckily, this is the only episode like this.

The horror genre is tragically sparse when it comes to anime. It's nice to be surprised by gems like this one every once in awhile. This isn't your average story. The vibe really reminds me of playing through the game Clocktower 3. About a seemingly defenseless girl moving through a ruined building while evading serial killers and solving puzzles. Purely a gag comedy anime. Most of the comedy revolves around aging health problems and worries, local perverts with hearts of gold(?) and referential chaos. Some of the references were admittedly well done and there were a few times the sheer insanity of the scenes had me rolling. That's about all the positive things I have to say about this show. The rest of the 95% of the time I was wishing I was watching literally anything else. The humor just didn't land for me. This show absolutely has its audience but it's not something I ever see myself

Very interesting vampire anime! I especially liked the humor which seemed to me a combination of the styles of Hellsing and Full Metal Alchemist. It was frequent and often interjected into serious moments in what I feel was masterfully done. The show itself also feels like a combination of a shoujo manga and a shounen one. I'm talking flower petals and sparkles everywhere, wall slams, and hot guy monologues but also idealistic protagonist, satisfying battle scenes and interesting villains. Sometimes, you really can have it all.

Oooooo, anime, why you so good to me? Wasn't expecting much from this one. I couldn't stop watching from the first episode. It was that enjoyable. What struck me as unique is the relationship between the protagonists and their mannerisms/speech patterns in general. They react to things and converse in very human ways. Conversations in anime are often exaggerated in one way or another, whether it be a total lack of any common sense among the characters or overblown reactions when dealing with members of a preferred sex; it's so refreshing to see a show where that is almost

Wholesome. That's what this show is. A wholesome comedy that had me laughing constantly. A real gem, great characters, fantastic comedic timing, and always managed to put a smile on my face. That's what I'll remember about this one. I really enjoyed having it queued up to watch periodically between frustrating or mundane tasks. I'd literally start watching the show pissed off and be laughing within minutes. Not many comedies can do that for me. What a show, peak shounen. Solid season 1, lagged a little in 2 but had a great finale. The lore and world building is strong. Really got big DarkSouls vibes from it at times and I love that. Was impressed with the direction they took in themes for the show. They talk about stuff like the collective human unconsciousness, how we are constantly struggling between our image of ourselves and the world’s image of us, how human ideation is the literal engine of the apocalypse, mortality, the importance of eros in culture, and so much more. I really wanted to like this one more, such a fantastic MC. Ray tries his very best to carry this show. Pretty much anytime he’s on screen, the show hits a sweet spot of humor and feels. He’s such a genuine character and pretty much completely developed from the first episode. His writing and VC portray him in such a way I keep wanting to compare him to Clark Kent. The combination of directness, confidence, humility, and compassion is so rare for a Japanese character and really makes him stand out. This one really surprised me. It has all the makings of generic mediocre isekai but the sum is greater than its parts. The comedy in this show is what carries it. I found myself laughing pretty hard every episode. The show is pretty goofy overall. If you are looking for an engaging, exciting story, this isn’t the one. The story is probably the weakest part, right along with the fight scenes. It feels like everything that happens is a setup for the comedy, which was such a solid decision.

I am truly baffled at the above average rating this show received. It's absolutely atrocious. I watched Eat-Man '98 many years ago and remember enjoying it well enough. Expecting a similar experience from this was clearly a mistake. Thankfully it is only 12 episodes and the pure disbelief of how bad each and every episode was stunned me long enough to finish it. The writing and directing seem to be the primary offenders of what make it so awful. You can pretty much bet on every episode having a segment of 30+ seconds of Bolt and another random character
