~The Sorcery-Party's Commandments~
1: Above all, the Golden Geometry of Storytelling encompasses tonal consistency, coherent production design, dedication to the development of pivotal themes, unbiased cast handling, the presence of dramatic stakes or believable struggles, thorough exploration of setups, optimal character utilisation (including secondary cast), the absence of time padding (with the exception of filler in particular cases), the absence of time resets or consequence erasure, balanced respect for Chekhov's gun theory and pre-designed triggers.
- 2: You shall prioritise watching productions that have been forgotten over time.
- 3: You shall be more lenient when appraising obscure items because they had not much luck getting success. Conversely, overhyped shows shall be judged more rigorously because they showcase the medium on a larger scale.
- 4: Unlike hipsters, you shall not praise anything only because it is underhyped or only known to you. You shall endeavor to elevate the status of minor gems or diamonds in the rough (through review writing or discussions.) The adage 'sharing is caring' is particularly apposite in this context.
- 5: You shall either value the versatility of concepts or be curious about eccentric production patterns. For instance, what if JC Staff had produced a police drama instead of the more expected ecchi?
- 6: You shall always respect art styles, even very dated ones. Unless they are tonally jarring, impede readability or have uneven quality that breaks immersion, they shall be given a pass. Unlike the visual dynamics of storytelling (Mimesis), it's not a decisive factor.
- 7: A member of the Sorcery Party is a completionist. No drops. You shall not go through a long franchise as an afterthought for that goes against the spirit of the second commandment. First impression watching with 2 or 3 episodes is the only acceptable exception.
- 8: You shall hunt not only for the very best, but you also the very worst to satisfy your intellectual curiosity. There is no shame in being a Garbage Connoisseur, as long as you do not deem campiness as more valuable than the Golden geometry of Storytelling.
- 9: If you can, you shall participate in fansubbing uncovered titles.
- 10: 'Retro always wins' shall be your motto. If something has been done well in modern times, chances are that an older title that outperforms it exists. This is certainly true in one or more areas. Even if it proves to be incorrect, it is still a valuable learning experience.

Yes time really flies by, I remember one of the first anime film I've seen on tv was "A Letter to Momo" other than Ghibli films. And I loved Heidi too, but on tv they would only show movie versions of it on Trt1, it was early 2000s. :)

I guess I started watching anime online relatively late, I was kinda unaware that you could do that. 2017 was my starting point. I didn't even had spotify before 2018-19 I was downloading mp3s *o* I think you must be a user here much before me.

And yes inflation inflation inflation.. We also experience it deeply here, unfortunately our currency lost it's worth a lot since 2000s. And even in 2018, it was better.. We were paying 14 TL for a beer in a bar, now it's 300-400-500 depends on the place.. Anyways, I hope Jigoku Shoujo turns up and deals with some certain people that are the problem.

But also in Turkey, there are people who tortures cats and dogs. And unfortunately, our government passed a law requiring municipalities to collect stray dogs from the streets and place them in shelters, with euthanasia permitted under certain conditions. And they are abusing this law to even capture old dogs who don't cause any harm and has people that feed and love them. When I was a child, the streets were full of dogs, and we would see less cats. And they were very friendly, all of them. I would hug all of the stray dogs and even put my hand in their mouth and they wouldn't do anything. Now the situation turned the other way around, we barely see any dogs.. The human race loves to torture, loves to manipulate and abuse every living beings right of live and freedom. The dogs may get a little agressive because they are hungry. It's a very normal response. But they don't consider to feed them even a little bit, their immediate solution is to kill them. Everyone is so so stingy because the ecomony is also bad, people can barely effort to buy groceries. So, they eat their food to the last bit. So no one is thinking about sharing. In Turkey, even when I was a kid, people would say "finish your food to the last bit, otherwise it will cry behind you" they would jokingly scare children to make them finish their food. But deep down, it taught them a very wrong lesson. It made them selfish.
Anyways sorry for writing to much :p I have two cats myself, one is blind, her name is "Curry" and "kör" means "blind" in Turkish :)
I've seen Jigoku Shoujo's 4 seasons last summer and I loved it. I remember that I was amazed with the ambience where Enma Ai lived. I think it's supposed to be purgatory. There, the sky was always red and yellow, with a deep, dark sunset.
I think the first 2 seasons are the best personally.

Usually, it's something like: "If you like this dumb ecchi for men, then you're an incel who's never been with a woman! Women don't look like this!"
Or: "If you like the dumb high school romcom for high school boys, then you're an incel who's never been with a woman! Girls don't act like this!"
Not that they're necessarily wrong or shouldn't feel that way, but I never see reviews written by men about female-oriented works in the same vein. 10 times out of 10, their accounts are always private, and DMs aren't allowed to avoid any pushback for their shitflinging.
And then you have the forums, which are their own shitshow.
